Don't Quit but Persist

Couple of months back I met two young and bright individuals. They had recently joined an organization with dreams of taking control of this world... Full of enthusiasm... Willing to learn new things... Daring to take on challenges... Made me remember the days where I myself had plans of capturing and ruling corporate board rooms (which, to a certain extent, I still have)...

Today, as luck would have it, we met again but with drastically changed emotions. Enthusiasm & willingness got replaced by feeling of dejection, regret and frustration. On inquiring what went so wrong, the explanations began: Everything from the kind of work they got, their boss, to the way they were treated seemed to be a problem. So much so that even the food offered in their cafeteria, cleanliness of their workstations and hundred other (insignificant) reasons were held responsible for this condition.

I heard all their concerns for a good thirty odd minutes but could not help them much as all my effort to make them look towards the positives and appreciate the good things were simply and politely ignored. The only thing that I could see was their unwillingness to face reality that it is not a walk in the park that they are being paid for.

Most saddening was their intention to quit because things were not happening the way they wanted or expected. Truly saddening.

An extract from You Can Win (by Shiv Khera) for all who at some point or the other might face such a situation:

DON'T QUIT

When things go wrong,
As they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit Rest if you must,
but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far ;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you mustn't quit.

Best,
Achint

Adventure of the Outsourcing Contract - Chap 1

Finally, the last working day of this week had arrived, along came the feelings associated with it.

Ashu had already cleared his workstation and wrapped up all that he was supposed to do for the week. Being a diligent and an into details person he started preparing for the customary End of Week meet

Sameer, the flamboyant member of this very dull organization, with all his mental zeal had planned for an extravagant weekend beginner and was all set to reveal the same to his colleague cum brother in crime.

Boss at his usual work-assigning best finalized on the list of key result areas for his team, and truly living upto the expectation of being a show-spoiler called in all but one of his team members to discuss and analyze their areas of improvement and the tasks that were to be performed respectively.

Sakshi, the one missing from the team meet, sipped her cup of coffee in her charming best manner as she knew that John Edwards’ desperate eyes were continuously grazing at her for anything and everything that they could see. She could easily do without attending any of the many team meets as she was more often needed to be outside than inside the office, performing what she performed best.

Ashu and Sameer met after the almost insignificant team meet and discussed about their course of action for the following few hours, puffing along their share of nicotine

“He was milder than before” said Ashu

“Has to,” replied Sameer, “Have heard he has won a three-year outsourcing contract with Telnet, UK’s major telecom player, for the firm”

“The client was here this morning,” continued Sameer

“Hmmm, so maybe that’s what keeping Sakshi busy this evening,” laughed Ashu

“And away from us,” smiled Sameer…

"Thank you TEACHER," my farewell speech...

A hundred years from now
It will not matter
What kind of house you lived in,
How much money you had in your bank A/c,
What your clothes looked like,
Or what kinda car did you drive

Because this world would be a better place to live on
For u played a vital role in shaping so many lives…

Thanks.

Missing You

If you don’t know
What’s known to me?
How may I convey,
That all to thee

Will you still be the same,
As they say it’s part of the game
I want you n that is true
Nothing in my life is complete without you.

Dreaming

Dreams are awkward, yes they are
Reality for me, is quite too far
Mountains are high, rainbows are bright
This is what, my dreams are like

They give me a hazy picture
Of what lies in the future
Believe me if you might
Or carry on with the fight

Dream like a king
See whatever you can think
Only those things come true,
Which u think are made 4 u

Guy’s dream of girls
Girl’s dream of guys
Maybe it’s not reality
But it can make you cry

Dreams are like a mirror
Its reflections are so clear
Here one can be bold
and can say what is to be told

People question why we dream
The reasons though are still not seen
No matter what is its meaning
For god sake just keep on dreaming.

Peace

I searched for peace
But my thoughts got ceased
So I headed 4 the sky
There’s nothing bad to try

But heart still feels disappointed
It’s not like what I thought
No path is as easy
For peace is to be fought

The lives are in misery
Many don’t understand
There’s much to be done
Than listening to some rock band

Most of us know
Life’s an ongoing show

Still what we don’t get
Is where to place the perfect bet.

Myself

True in thought n deep in feeling,
Many say I show too much of thinking;
Make hay when the sun shines
But have a soul that’s true n divine.

Many say I have friends too many
I say that it’s a trait I possess
Not all are true; not all are there
Yes, this is what have I assessed

Hate

Hate kills,
The man who hates
Don’t let it enter
Just close the gates

A virgin mind
Is a land of peace
Until you lend it
To hate on lease

It grows,
At a rate so large
No longer does,
Your mind remain yours

Eat, drink or meditate
But don’t allow it to proliferate.

Miscellaneous

Dreams may come
Dreams may go
Where I am
No one knows

I feel good
When you are here
Without you
Life appears unfair

True you are
I know for sure
For all the pain
You are the one cure

Cost

What is cost?
I haven’t thought
Most are sleeping
Who says this is interesting

Fixed cost,
Variable cost &
Mixed cost
For god sake please get lost.

Perfect Living (Incomplete)

Make way for the needful,
Do respect the respectable
What you give is what you get
At least this much is predictable

Travel (Incomplete)

I travel a lot,
Whether be cold or be hot

All journeys are not smooth
But still I need to move

Thoughts come many on the way
Short-lived they are and do not stay.

Love & Being Together

Where were you
When I needed you the most
I was like a lost ship
Searching for the coast

You mean so much to me
How shall I tell this to thee
My desire for you has no boundary
My love can’t be contained in any territory

Can we be together,
Together forever
Not like the leaves of a flower,
Nor like the drops in shower

Not everything is achievable,
But at least it is perceivable
So why must not I dream of you,
I will as long as my thoughts are true.

Patience

Patience is a home grown trait
A key ingredient to make u great
Don’t let the emotions lead the way
Do listen what your mind has to say

Think of a word coming next to ‘hurry’
Don’t bother much as it simply is ‘worry’
Wait u must n see 4 yourself
Nothing’s better that patience itself.

Motivation (Thinking)

If flowers know how to blossom,
Raindrops know where to fall
Why is it that one doesn’t realize
With every step your soul grows tall

It’s in the mind that we start to think,
It helps to grow and not to shrink
When every person has a thought of his own,
Then why is it that it’s not shown

You show the world what you possess
It’s on them, how to assess
The world will bow n it’s for sure
and if they don’t then it’s for their own

The world is harsh as it has to be
What you do is maybe destiny
Blaming on luck is a fool’s desire
Never ever blow the burning fire

It’s not easy n that I can say
Better not be late or you’ll have to pay.
